Water Tales: Weaving a Nomadic Community of Practices for Place-Bound Intimacies

Our collective, born out of a shared environmental concern and a commitment to multispecies ethics of care, seeks to deepen our understanding of our shared practices. Centering our exploration around “Water Tales,” we aim to engage with the surrounding waterways of Saari Manor, viewing water as a vital link between ourselves and the land. Drawing from past collaborations and through immersive interaction with the region’s bodies of water, we seek to activate collective engagement through the communal framework of the “Morning Sessions,” (i.e. a platform for sharing individual practices through workshop formats), fostering a repository of methods for place-bound intimacies and knowledge weaving that can be implemented in other sites and projects. Embracing sustainability and care, we aspire to model these values in our work, prioritizing collectively-generated wisdom over product-oriented outcomes. Participating in the Saari Residence offers us the space to reflect, reconnect, and envision a future guided by wonderment, mourning, and community-building.
