Best Practices webinar: Online Harassment

Do you or your colleagues work on topics that might result in harassment in the media or social media? The next Best Practices webinar, organised jointly by Kone Foundation and the Nessling Foundation, focuses on online harassment.

We welcome two guests, Leonardo Custódio and Karin Creutz, to discuss the topic. Custodio and Creutz are academics who have both been active in the work against harassment.

Leonardo Custódio is an educator and researcher at Åbo Akademi University. Custódio is an expert in communication for development and social change. Working at the intersections between academia, social movements and non-governmental organizations, Custódio has analysed how marginalised, discriminated and underprivileged people use communication for human rights, social justice and respect.

Karin Creutz is a researcher and university teacher at the University of Helsinki. Creutz has conducted autoethnographic research on hate speech and studied stereotypes, polarization and dialogue. Creutz has also educated authorities and NGOs on social sustainability, discrimination, conflict, and communication. Currently they are working in a project on language-based hatred against linguistic minorities using mass data methods and teaching ethics for social workers.
