Ejercicio de la locura – Exercise in Madness

Hakemuksen tiivistelmä

This is a feature-length fiction project that addresses the problems of a dysfunctional family living in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, near a military air base. Román, a 13-year-old boy, spends entire nights awake because he can't forget the image of a woman hit by a train. During those sleepless days and nights, he observes that Martín, his 18-year-old brother, exhibits strange behavior and realizes he is committing crimes. Martín gathers "los carapintadas" , a delusional armed paramilitary group integrated by people from the neighborhood who meet in the courtyard of his house. I am interested in reflecting on how violence and social instability impact the psyche of the members of a middle-working-class family in the context of state-sponsored violence under far-right governments in Latin America.
