A Good Life Beyond Growth: Exploring Sufficiency and Sustainable Wellbeing Through Creative Approaches

Hakemuksen tiivistelmä

Practical solutions to the global crisis remain limited, as environmental degradation and climate change are rooted in cultural and social systems that shape how people live and act. This research examines these foundational yet overlooked aspects of sustainability, focusing on the values, visions, and narratives that guide societal orientations, behavior, and decision-making. It aims to (1) explore how collective aspirations and citizens’ goals can be redefined toward sufficiency and sustainable well-being and inform aligned policies and practices (2) contribute to sufficiency research by introducing novel arts-based approaches (3) assess the transformative potential and scalability of arts-based practices in fostering growth-independent societal transitions. By integrating creative approaches, the study explores how emotional, aesthetic, and reflective engagement can shift societal visions and aspirations, supporting sufficiency-based, sustainable wellbeing-centered paradigms.
