The orchestra of sorrows from the water

Hakemuksen tiivistelmä

This is a project to convert the sadness of aquatic environments and ecosystems into music. I’ll select locations such as lakes and springs in Finland that have environmental issues, record the underwater and surrounding environmental sounds, and organize an orchestra around each of them as a instrument. I’ll combine these with piano and harmonics(voice) to compose and release a series of musical pieces from the first to fourth movements. In addition, I’ll shoot and release a short film. It will help people to understand more deeply the sadness that this songs expresses. Up until now, I have combined introspective issues with the natural landscapes of Japan to express my own and people's negative emotions, such as sadness, in a way that resonates with nature. I have never worked on environmental issues before, but I particularly concerned by the threat to the Earth's ecosystems and the extinction and suffering of plants and animals. However, I was unable to work on the issue because I thought I was too immature to deal with it. But that may be a mistake. Environmental issues are always close to me. I'm currently working on collecting environmental sounds, which has brought me closer to nature. In fact, I even incorporate environmental sounds into my works. This stay, I'll combine ambient sounds with environmental issues to create music that will question and empathize with the hearts of people. I'd like to confront more concrete, real-world problems while making use of the spiritual expressions of sadness and suffering that I have cultivated over the years.
