LOGLINE A girl who dreams of dancing. Parents burdened by financial worries that stifle every aspiration. Suddenly, the animals roaming the city begin to speak, transforming everything—and inspiring Rosa to take action. ROSA AND THE CITY ANIMALS is a heartwarming and humorous film that addresses child poverty in Germany, offering a glimpse into the emotional world of 11-year-old Rosa as she navigates life's ups and downs. She longs to learn tap dance, but to do so, she needs shoes and must pay the course fee at the dance school. But where to find the money? Things don't just fall from the sky, and neither does money, especially since her parents are from Georgia—the family is poor. Rosa knows that nothing is handed to you. Her parents work hard at menial jobs, roles for which they are overqualified—he as a trained engineer and she as a once-celebrated singer. Here in exile, they've lost not only their professions but also their language. Yet, they strive to make life as beautiful as possible for their children: with humor, abundant love, and heaps of pizza that the father brings home from his job as a pizza delivery driver. Rosa, in turn, wants to reassure her parents that everything is fine. Secretly, she earns the money for the missing tap dance shoes and lessons herself—and also tries to supplement the tight household budget. She has a good friend, Tom, who helps her and secures a job for her. Now, Rosa rides through the city, distributing flyers before school. But then, something strange happens: all the animals populating the city—rats, magpies, squirrels, parrots, foxes, spiders, and cats—begin to talk to Rosa. They don't always offer good advice, but their little hints and jokes bring her laughter. On her journey to fulfill her dance dream, Rosa learns to cope with her poverty. Sometimes, all you need are a few good friends and a different perspective on reality—then you realize that the anagram of 'poverty' (in German) is 'dream
