Our focus is not only on food itself, but also on routes, queues, packaging, sounds, faces, gestures, and everyday rituals. We document this through video, audio, photography, and we keep a diary consisting of drawings, aiming to visualize the everyday experiences of low-income communities. Our research is rooted in the context of these spaces, while our personal experience as refugee-artists gives us a perspective that allows us to approach the issue from another side. The first phase of the project is dedicated to research and collecting extensive documentation of our own experiences as well as those of other recipients of free food. The surrounding environment – architecture, transport, nature, people, and more – is equally important to the study. The collected material will form the foundation for the next stage. In the second phase, we will conduct an in-depth thematic analysis of the collected material. Based on video recordings, photographs, soundscapes, and a visual diary consisting of drawings of food and the surrounding environment of the food distribution sites, we will create interactive installations. The routine of receiving food reveals broader questions of social support, urban infrastructure, inequality, as well as the cultural and aesthetic codes hidden within ordinary moments. By reflecting on these practices and transforming them into multimedia works, we seek to spark dialogue about social structures, dignity, and the politics of food.
