Árbi Luohti – recording and producing Lars-Heaikka Blinds second solo album

Árbi Luohti is a collection of yoiks related to the forced displacement of Sámi people in the Karesuando region and their reindeer herding territories. The yoiks are personal yoiks of relatives to Lars-Heaikka Blind, who were victims of forced displacement. And yoiks of places related to their reindeer herding. These place specific yoiks are becoming extinct because forced displacement has ended the once active reindeer herding of these specific places. The album consist of Lars-Heaikka Blinds solo yoiks and field recordings from these site specific places. There is also field recordings from active reindeer herding sites, including calf-marking and other seasonal sounds. Field recordings have been done during 2024–2026 following the reindeer herding seasons. Most of the yoiks have been recorded in Lásságámmi residence in 2024 and in nature around Karesuando in 2025–2026. During the Saari residency in 2027 we will be doing the post-production of the album with possible re-takes of the yoik recordings. Final mixing and mastering would take place during this residency.
