For residency applicants The open call for 2028 opens on 1 March and ends on 31 March at 4 p.m. Finnish time (Eastern European time, UTC +3).The recipients of Kone Foundation’s Saari residencies for 2027 have been announced (opens in a new tab) Residency places are applied for by submitting an online application form with the required attachments. Individual professional artists, artist duos, and artistic working groups are eligible to apply. In 2027, a major renovation will be underway at Saari Residence. As a result, the residents’ studios and one of the residential buildings will be out of use. Due to the renovation, fewer residency places than usual will be available in 2027, and work will take place in the apartments. Residency places are always applied for one year in advance. The residency places for 2027 have already been filled and were awarded in June 2026. The artist residency positions are intended for individual professional artists, fiction writers, poets, novelists, translators, composers, curators and critics of all disciplines and nationalities. Artists coming from outside Finland to the Saari Residence can apply for support for ecological travel, and artists coming from the Global South can apply for support for travel and visa costs.
