Red Villa in Lauttasaari will soon be filled with the enticing scents of Teemu Aura’s delicacies

Puhuri by Patisserie Teemu Aura will open its doors on 11 January 2022. The home of these mouth-watering baked goods is the historic Red Villa in the courtyard of the Lauttasaari Manor.

Last autumn after a long search, Patisserie Teemu Aura found great facilities for its café in Lauttasaari. Patisserie Teemu Aura was one of several café operators that participated in the application process organised by Kone Foundation.

“Our customers have long been requesting that we open a café in Lauttasaari, but finding a space that felt right for our patisserie has not been easy. Early this autumn, we noticed by chance that the previous café owner was closing down their business in Puhuri,” says Teemu Aura, describing how he first found out about Kone Foundation’s Red Villa and delighted that his Patisserie was chosen as the next service provider.

Puhuri by Patisserie Teemu Aura will open its doors on 11 January 2022. The café will be open every day, serving not only handmade bakery and coffee house products, but also breakfast and lunch with seasonal ingredients. You can get their All Day Breakfasts too, famous from their Hakaniemi café, from morning till well into the afternoon, to eat in or take away.

“Lauttasaari is a unique area and the Red Villa is a real gem with great atmosphere. Puhuri is known locally also as a cultural café where customers can enjoy art exhibitions curated by Kone Foundation, along with delicious treats. In the summer, the yard and its terrace will probably inspire us to organise exciting events. First, however, we will focus on the spring and its scrumptious delicacies, including Shrove Tuesday, Easter and May Day,” Teemu Aura says excitedly. 

“At Kone Foundation, we are delighted that café-goers will soon fill the Red Villa’s yard once again. We wanted to ensure the continuity of the café operations by selecting an experienced and established operator, especially as the coronavirus pandemic has posed such a risk for the industry’s operators. And, of course, we can’t wait to explore Patisserie Teemu Aura’s famous products more closely,” says Ulla Tuomarla, Kone Foundation’s Executive Director.
