Expose a local whiz, talent or expert for the Mynämäki night school!

Do you know someone who masters lace-making or is a passionate storm chaser? We are calling for residents in and around Mynämäki to suggest local experts and talents to teach classes at the Mynämäki night school, organised by the Saari Residence. Expose to us a person you know to be an expert or enthusiast on a topic!

We are hoping to hear about people from a wide range of backgrounds and areas of expertise on any topic under the sun. The person may be an expert on their topic through studies, experience or a hobby.

At the Mynämäki night school, attendants have the opportunity to learn about new topics from the experts and test new skills under their instruction. The night school’s curriculum will feature a selection of the diverse local talent and expertise. The night school is also a splendid way to learn more about the local environment and its people.

A series of ten lessons will be planned based on the suggested teachers. The lessons are free to attend, and everyone is welcome to participate and join the discussion. Coffee and light snacks are also provided.

Starting on 25 April 2018, the evening classes will take place every other Wednesday from 6 to 7 pm at the communal space managed by Saari Residence in Y-kulma, Mynämäki (street address Keskuskatu 20).  You can also suggest a name for the new communal place here.

Submit your suggestions for experts by Tuesday, April 10 at either the communal space letterbox with the title “Expert exposed” (Keskuskatu 20, former Mynämäki bookshop) or online here.

If there are more suggestions than room for classes, we will try to select teachers in a way that ensures the greatest diversity of topics. The classes chosen for the Mynämäki night school will be planned and carried out together with the organiser.

The selections will be announced by Friday, April 13. We will hold a shared briefing and meeting for the teachers on Wednesday, April 18 at 6 pm at the Y-kulma in Mynämäki.

The Mynämäki night school is part of the ten-year anniversary programme of the Kone Foundation’s Saari Residence.

The evenings are chaired by Sanna Vainionpää and Leena Kela. Sanna Vainionpää is an artist and teacher local to Mynämäki. During the series of evening classes, she will examine the cooperative learning of people of different age groups through the techniques of community art. Leena Kela is the Executive Director of Saari Residence and a performance artist.
