The prize money was divided between the authors of three articles. Petri Keto-Tokoi & Timo Kuuluvainen received the Vuoden Tiedekynä 2011 award for their book Suomalainen aarniometsä. (EUR 10,000), Kimmo Ruosteenoja for his article Miten ja miksi ilmasto muuttuu? (EUR 7,500) and Ilari E. Sääksjärvi for his article Tuntematon monimuotoisuus – trooppiset kätköpistiäiset hämmästyttävät rikkaudellaan. (EUR 7,500).
