Sanna Kauppinen

Visual artist

Sanna Kauppinen (b. 1979 in Oulu, Finland) makes large-scale drawings into which she often also incorporates elements of painting. She has also recently included digital photography as a new technique. Through her work, Sanna has previously become familiar with the bear of Finnish mythology, for example, and recently also with the forest and trees in particular. Now other animals have also entered the forest.

“When you spend a lot of time in the forest and you are quiet, you begin to see not only the trees but also the animals.”

“At the Saari Residence I will draw and photograph. I will seek inspiration from the conservation area near the Saari Manor and I will let it take me still further into the theme of the forest and its animals.”
