Residency artists and researchers Multidisciplinary art Sädekehistä – täydellisen politiikkaa Workgroup During their residency, director Aune Kallinen, choreographer Jenni Koistinen, musician and actress Ragni Grönblom are working on a project entitled Sädekehistä – täydellisen politiikkaa (”About Halos – The Politics of Perfection”). Our founding hypothesis for the construction of the performance is that the halo says something about our physical existence in the world. In Indian, Persian, Greek and Roman art, the halo was often depicted as a circular or almond-shaped ring surrounding the entire body. We are now intending, in this day and age, to locate that same physical experience and to create a fresh connection to the haloes surrounding our bodies – to all of the emotional, scientific, social, mystic, indirect and porous haloes with the help of which we become who we are. The work investigates the dramatic possibilities of polyphony and the perfection of everything. We ponder, physically, spiritually, socially, how you can possibly add to perfection. Wondering creates that little bit extra, that halo. We are not aiming for harmony but to share, to create unity and simultaneousness; we make real whatever we focus on. We will approach this experience of haloes with the help of devoted movement, a male choir and dryish performance art. Other collaborators include Katri Puranen, Arttu Palmio, Arttu Väänänen, Hanna Ahti, Niina Hosiasluoma and the male choir Mieskuoro D25, who will be joining the group during the fall and winter of 2014/2015. After their time at the Saari Residence, the group will continue work at the Zodiac Center for New Dance as part of the Z-Free event concept in 2014, and will also be presenting their on-going process at the Zodiac’s Z-Free demo event at the end of October. The Sädekehistä – täydellisen politiikkaa performance will premiere at the Kiasma Theatre in Helsinki in the fall of 2015.
