Nada Gambier

Performance maker, performer<br />

During my stay at the Saari Residence I will be exploring ways in which to incorporate food and objects in to my physical and performative work. The research serves as a first experimental stage in view of creating a new stage production in 2014. Alongside this I will also be working on a concept for a public presentation of the research for the New Performance Turku Festival in June 2013.

During my residency in Saari I will conduct two open research labs (2.–3.2 in KUTOMO Turku and 9.–10.2 at the Saaren Kartano) so as to be able to do some experiments with a small number of people. For information on the labs please see HTTP://WWW.EHKA.NET/OPEN-ARTISTIC-RESEARCH-LABORATORY/?LASTPAGE=KUTOMO

Nada Gambier is a Finnish born performance maker living in Brussels. In 2000 she graduated from The Place in London before joining the research cycle at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels from where she graduated in 2002. Since then she has been making her own creations that each carry her peculiar signature even as they differ in format (theatre, dance, video…). As an artist she is seeking ways in which to blur the borders between reality and fiction, performativity and spontaneity often highlighting the absurdity in our quotidian. Over the years she has also collaborated with various artists (Kate McIntosh, Edit Kaldor, Charlotte Vanden Eynde, Cristian Duarte…) as a performer and artistic advisor in productions both in Belgium and abroad. She is one of the founding members of ACTION SCÉNIQUE VZW alongside choreographers Etienne Guilloteau and Claire Croizé.
