At the Saari Residence, I will be working on two projects that in different ways examine sight and the way in which we would perceive our environment if we could not see.

I’ve been thinking about this theme of seeing and sight for many years now. My interest in it began when someone very close to me suddenly lost their sight. I experienced how the loss of sight affects the everyday life of a person: how long visual memories remain intact, how adaptable people are and on the other hand, how life can sometimes suddenly become unsure and unsafe.

My aim is to finish one video art work as well as to begin work on a script and plan for another one that will incorporate motion picture and an actor monologue.

I hope that the environment and community of Saari Manor will offer not only the time and conditions for intensive concentration but interesting new acquaintances and the opportunity to wonder away from the computer every now and then to enjoy, experience and see the awakening nature of Spring.
