Residency artists and researchers Dance Kaaos Company Meeting Connections – Inner Dance and Environment ENCOUNTERS AND CONNECTIONS – in and out of dance During the Saari Residence residency organized by Finland’s foremost integrated dance theatre group, Kaaos Company, we will explore dance and movement in different spaces and environments. In doing so, we will contemplate “inner and outer play” drawing from improvisation as well as from different types of documentation and sharing. The project is headed by dancer/choreographers Sally Davison and Pia Lindy. The other participants are Marika Aro, Gunilla Sjövall and Jenni Urpilainen from Helsinki as well as Hanna Väätäinen and Antti Virta from Turku. As part of the project, we will organize an open workshop on May 17th from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Saari Residence as well a dance tour in Turku on Friday May 24th from 3 pm onward. KAAOS COMPANY Kaaos Company is a dance theatre group that aims to expand the boundaries of dance by creating dance works and performances that include both disabled and non-disabled performers. The intention is to dissolve perceived differences and to show that behind them is a shared experience of being human that is familiar to everyone. Kaaos Company’s projects are produced by DanceAbility Finland Association. DanceAbility Finland is a non-profit association that strives to advance integrated dance, make dance accessible to everyone and to disillusion prejudices regarding the limitations of people with disabilities. We provide everyone who wishes to experience and enjoy dance the opportunity to do so. Dance, movement and active perception afford the opportunity to share with others something that cannot be experienced alone and makes anything possible.
