MFA, dance

During my stay at the Saari Residence I will work on one or more aspects of a solo performance, Yo, Genesis. The project focuses on the origins, arrival and also usefulness of rhythm, cadence, and gesture in the body.

The project has so far been researched in the studio, where concepts are practiced through iteration, and tools developed as needed. Areas of interest are sensory perception in the context of decision making and allowing, with awareness of the shaping of the body’s surfaces by those internal dialogues. The work is concerned also with those processes as and in performance. I also see the significance of this work/time as a chance to shift personal choreographic process.

What of the four-part subject matter of Yo, Genesis is touched by the place and people of Saari? Let’s see what happens!
