Johanna Juhola - Kone Foundation

Johanna Juhola (b. 1978) is a Helsinki-based accordionist, composer and Master of Music (graduated 2008 from the Sibelius Academy). Johanna is known in particular for breathing new life into tango and accordion music, and as a guest musician who transitions with ease from one genre to another.

Johanna’s music is performed by the ensembles Johanna Juhola Trio and Johanna Juhola Reaktori, both of which have an emphasis on tango nuevo and live electronic music. Johanna’s other bands include Duo Milla Viljamaa & Johanna Juhola, Tango-orkesteri Unto as well as Las Chicas del Tango.

Johanna has released three albums under her own name, Miette (2006), Fantasiatango (2010) and Fantasiatango 2 (2012), as well as dozens of records with her ensembles and as a guest musician.

Johanna has composed music for theatre, circus and modern dance performances, in which she has also performed live together with her bands Johanna Juhola Reaktori, Johanna Juhola Trio and Duo Milla Viljamaa & Johanna Juhola.
