Residency artists and researchers Dance Inner Spaces dance, composing Dancer Julie Nathanielsz and composer Maija Hynninen got to know eachother at Saari Residence in the autumn of 2013. Their collaboration continued the following year in the United States. In the summer of 2015, a grant from the Kone Foundation offered a much-needed opportunity to return to the Saari Residence and realize a new collaborative work in Finland. Currently under construction is the work Electric cues, which focuses on the relationship between spontaneity and artificiality. A previously constructed, electronic system meets a spontaneous, human variable. The work combines contemporary music, dance and visual art into an organic, performative entity.
