Esa Mäkijärvi

At the Saari Residence, I will be writing poetry and prose. I am currently working on two scripts: my fourth poetry collection and my debut novel, which I will also be working on during my residency. Both texts discuss love from different perspectives. Even people who are close can easily remain strangers. This is something I want to discuss in depth.

I am also a freelance journalist and lecturer so my time will partially be dedicated to texts relating to these occupations. The Residence will provide a welcome opportunity to focus on work and the calming presence of nature. I hope to evolve as a writer at the Residence.
