The total sum of EUR 56,812,928 granted by the Foundation includes the following funding: The general grant call, EUR 44,809,615 Metsän puolella initiative EUR 14,784,150 Thematic grant call (Media and Democracy), EUR 1,908,200 Saari Residence grants, EUR 339,113 Vuoden Tiedekynä Academic Writing Award, EUR 25,000 The 2024 general grant call A total of EUR 44,809,615 million and 343 grants were awarded through the 2024 general grant call. A total of 6,650 applications were submitted for the call. Of the EUR 44.8 million granted, 58.9% was awarded for research projects, 24.1% for art projects, 16.9% for projects combining research and art, and 0.1% for other cultural work. Of the 343 grants, 162 were awarded for art projects, 138 for research projects, 42 to projects combining research and art, and 1 to other cultural projects. 261 were given for multi-year projects and 82 were given for a duration of one year or less. Award rates in the 2024 general grant call Calculated from the total number of applications, 5.2% of the applicants were awarded a grant. The award rate for research projects was 5.5%. The award rate for art projects was 5.0%. The award rate for projects combining art and research was 6.3%. The award rate for other cultural work was 0.4%. In the general grant application round, 6.2% of the total sum applied for was granted. The award rate for research projects was 7.5%. The award rate for art projects was 4.4%. Metsän puolella Kone Foundation’s initiative Metsän puolella for forest-related topics was launched in June 2023. The call for proposals is ongoing and open all year round. Applications to the Saari Residence A total of 24 artists, 3 two-person teams and 11 working groups were selected for the Saari Residence in 2024 out of 1,200 applications received from 91 countries.
