The total sum of EUR 49,138,738 granted by the Foundation includes the following funding: The autumn’s general grant application round, EUR 33,571,330Language, Power and Democracy themed call, EUR 4,596,300Saari Residence grants, EUR 257,558Lauttasaari Manor grants, EUR 37,950Other grants and donations, EUR 10,675,600 The autumn’s general grant application round A total of EUR 33,571,330 million and 323 grants were awarded through the general grant application round of 2021. Kone Foundation’s Board of Trustees decided on the grants on 26 November 2021. A total of 6,060 applications were submitted for the general application round that took place between the 1st and the 15th of September. A total of 323 individuals, working groups or communities received a grant. The projects awarded a grant involve 545 grantees, as well as some wage earners and other members. Of the EUR 33.6 million granted, 57.7% was awarded for research projects, 24.6% for art projects, 17.5% for projects combining art and research and 0.2% for other cultural projects. Language, Power and Democracy themed call In connection with the autumn 2021 call for applications, the Foundation’s themed call Language, Power and Democracy was organised. It is the first round of applications for the funding programme Is Democracy in Decay? The application round resulted in EUR 4,596,300 worth of grants being awarded to a total of 16 initiatives. Applications to the Saari Residence A total of 26 artists and 8 working groups were selected for the Saari Residence in 2021 out of 802 applications received from 77 countries.
