What the Closet Told Me

During the home residency, I will aim to explore the lived experiences of three queer Arab individuals in Finland, in attempt to re-think about the impact of imposed “universal” models in the West--namely coming out of the closet--on their identity construction. The objective is to reach inclusive artistic practical tools in direct relation to inclusion and improvement of everyday life through communal thinking and collaborative projects. Since last year I have done research through my master’s studies at Helsinki University on the topics at hand, I now aim to execute the artistic part, in order to provide further insight into such a timely topic through creative process.
