Under bidragsperioden fortsätter Kohta att erbjuda den intresserade allmänheten gratis tillträde till minst fem årliga utställningar av samtidskonst. Project report summary 2021–24 was a challenging period, with the Pandemic, war in Ukraine and Palestine and cuts to public funding for culture in Finland. The four-year operational grant from the Kone Foundation has been extraordinarily significant for Kunsthalle Kohta. It has helped us professionalise our organisation, intensify our activities and consolidate our reputation in the professional art field in Finland and internationally. Kohta endeavours to offer professionally curated exhibitions, free of charge to the public, of uncompromising contemporary work by artists of all active generations from all over the world. We also do our very best to make the programme gender-balanced. We take pride in offering artists living and working in Finland good exhibiting conditions and introducing them to new audiences (and vice versa, introducing new artists from Finland, and not only the capital region, to our audiences). We never charge rent from exhibiting artists but instead paying them exhibition fees. In 2021–24, Kohta organised 16 exhibitions with 42 invited artists from 15 countries. In addition, the open-call exhibition ‘First International Festival of Manuports’ in 2021, during the Pandemic, contained works by 279 artists or artist collectives from 35 countries on all continents except Africa and Antarctica. Our yearly visitor numbers grew by 79% in this period. Back to Grants listing
