This project was created by multi-instrumentalist Barbora Silhanova (alias Barbora Xu) in official collaboration with the Finnish Nature League (Luonto-Liitto). We aim to engage wider audiences in preserving the few remaining invaluable natural forests of Finland. All the included forests are planned to be clear-cut. Donations and album sales will go 100% towards buying a patch of old growth forest and eventually donating it to the Luonnonperintösäätiö for further protection. The Old Forest Echoes project entails: an album of music composed directly in old growth forest, a series of children's workshops in the same forests, a concert tour that will invite audiences straight to the locations which inspired the music, and finally at the end of the project a documentary of the project's process and music videos featuring these threatened iconic landscapes will be released. We plan to use two main ways of promoting this project. One is the music release promotion (Nordic Notes label) and another the network of Luonto-Liitto and other environmental organisations engaged in the project. Back to Grants listing
