Filosofian valtakunnallinen tohtorikoulutusverkosto

Application summary

The Finnish doctoral training network in philosophy was established in 2015 to continue the doctoral training collaboration of the preceding National Doctoral Programme of Philosophy (1995-2015), which was funded by the Academy of Finland. From 2016 to 2019 and from 2019 to 2023, the network has been funded by Kone foundation. Partner universities include all Finnish universities whose PhD-programs include philosophy: the universities of Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Tampere, Turku, and Åbo Akademi. All the accepted doctoral researchers in the partner universities majoring in philosophy are members of the network. The working language of the network is English. The two main activities of the network have been to organize annual doctoral congresses and provide travel grants. The network distributes the information relevant for doctoral researchers and their supervisors by maintaining the webpage (https://research.tuni.fi/philnetwork/), Facebook page, and the mailing list (filjatko@lists.tuni.fi, currently 143 subscribers, not all of them current doctoral researchers) and it may support also smaller workshops.
