It is my intention to continue developing my skills in metalworking, which forms an integral part of my creative process. My desire is to build studio/workshop space that is conducive to ease and comfort in order to concentrate my energy and focus in pursuit of my creative practice. It is my intention is to build this space in order to focus my efforts and energy on the pursuit of my craft, rather than engaging in the constant struggle to secure equality and a voice within the workshop environment. In addition to my own work, I would like to facilitate and encourage an intersectional feminist approach with the aim of establishing safer spaces, communities and networks of metalworking practitioners. My idea is to offer assistance and access to welding/metalworking in an environment that is welcoming and inspiring. The plan is to construct and develop a workspace that will enable welding, metal casting, forging and associated metalworking crafts processes and methods. It will facilitate autonomy for my own practice, while also promoting the establishment of a welcoming community and environment for female sculptors and metalworkers. Back to Grants listing
