Residency artists and researchers Performing arts, performance art Puhti Workgroup Puhti, a duo founded in 2001 by dancer/choreographer Reetta-Kaisa Iles and musician/composer Anne-Mari Kivimäki, finds inspiration for their distinctive performance art from folk traditions. At the Saari Residence, Puhti will begin working on and rehearsing a new performance entitled Pahan laulu – Balladi pahasta karmasta (”the song of evil – a ballad about bad karma”), which will premier in November 2013. The aim of the week-long residency is to compile all the ideas the workgroup has come up with during the spring and summer regarding composition, types of movement, script and visual concepts, and to begin the rehearsal process. During the week, the group will also be filming material for a video work that will run alongside the performance. Director Tommi Kainulainen, sound designer Samuli Volanto, costume designer Jaana Kurttila and cinematographer Aarne Tapola will be working with Puhti at Saari. WWW.PUHTI.EU
