Doctoral research on short- and long-term effects of biochar and other soil amendment materials on soil biota

Biochar as a soil amendment shows promising results improving soil and crop quality and increasing crop yields, however there is lack of field-scale evidence of its effects on soil biota. Hence, in this proposal, the objective is to study short and long term underlying processes in biochar amended soils and its effects on earthworms and microbial community composition. While the data is already collected, it still has to be analyzed and the results needs to be published. During the grant period, I plan to publish two peer-reviewed scientific articles.
