Looking for bold initiatives in September

The application period for Kone Foundation grants begins on 1 september and ends on 15 september at 16.00 Finnish time (Eastern European summer time, GMT + 3). Read on changes in the application.






Grants can be awarded for academic research, the arts, and for projects which combine scholarly and artistic approaches. Two thematic funding calls, Neighbour dialogues and Ecological compensations in society and culture, will also be open during the application period. Deadline for applications is 2 weeks.  The application period for Kone Foundation grants begins on 1 september and ends on 15 september at 16.00 Finnish time (Eastern European summer time, GMT + 3).

Applicants who have sent their application by the deadline 15 September 16:00 Finnish time can add or edit attachments until Monday 18 September 16:00 Finnish time. Please note: application cannot be edited in any other ways after the deadline.

Grant classification in 2017:

  • Grant 1: beginning of career (doctoral thesis) €2,400 /month (€28,320 /year)
  • Grant 2: mid-career (post-doctoral level) €2,800 /month (€32,400 /year)
  • Grant 3: experienced researcher (adjunct professor level) €3,500 /month (€42,000 /year).

The applicant must select whether the grant that is being applied for is for a multi-year project, for a project lasting less than a year or a kickstarter grant for project development or piloting. Applicant can no longer apply grant for a multi-year project and a kickstarter grant for the same project.

Applicants must provide the recommender the reference code from the application form.
