Statistics and listings of grants, prizes and donations awarded in 2025

In 2025, Kone Foundation awarded grants, prizes and donations totalling over EUR 66 million.

The total sum of EUR 66,862,153 granted by the Foundation includes the following funding:

  • The general grant call, EUR 52,104,425
  • Metsän puolella initiative, EUR 9,638,400
  • Thematic call (Securitization and Democracy), EUR 1,921,600
  • Saari Residence grants, EUR 222,728
  • Other grants, awards and donations, EUR 2,975,000 euroa

The 2025 general grant call

A total of EUR 52.1 million was awarded for a total of 389 projects through the 2025 general grant call.

Of the total sum granted, 59.2% was awarded for research projects, 23.2% for art projects and 17.5% for projects combining research and art.

Of the 379 projects, 167 (42,9%) were research projects, 167 (42,9%) wereart projects and 55 (14,1%) projects combining research and art. 296 (76%) were multi-year projects and 93 (24%) were projects with a duration of one year or less.

Funding was awarded for 242 individual grantees (62% of the projects), 16 working pairs (4%), 93 working groups (24%) and 38 organizations (10%).

Award rates in the 2025 general grant call

A record number of 7,648 applications were submitted for the call in September.

Calculated from the total number of applications, 5.1% of the applicants were awarded a grant.

In the general grant application round, 6% of the total sum applied for was granted.

Thematic call 2025: Securitization and Democracy

In the final thematic call of the Is Democracy Eroding funding programme, a total of EUR 1.9 million was awarded to eight projects.

Applications to the Saari Residence

In 2025, a total of 27 individual artists and 5 artistic duos were selected for the Saari Residence for the upcoming year. No group residencies were awarded this year, since there will be no group residencies available at Saari manor in 2026 due to extensive renovations of the residence’s working spaces. A total of 1,034 applications from 86 countries were submitted this year. The award rate for residency places was 3.5% out of the total number of applicants.
