Record amount of grant applications received

The application period for Kone Foundation grants ended on 30 September. We received over 6,000 applications which is more than ever before.

The evaluators are already searching for the most interesting bold initiatives from among the applications.

“Current topics, such as the economy and the refugee crisis, were evident in the arts and culture applications,” says Anna, Executive Director. The societal perspective was also visible in applications for research grants: “The number of applications in social sciences increased by over 10 per cent on the previous year,” says Kalle, Head of Research Affairs.

Unfortunately, the online application service was unable to deal with the volume of applications during the final hours of the application period. Luckily we were able to solve this problem by extending the application period by three hours. We would like to thank many applicants for their patience and apologise for the additional inconvenience and stress caused!

We will announce the names of the successful applicants during the second week of December.
