Summer’s last groups at the Saari Residence

The end of August will once again mark the close of a busy summer at the Saari Residence and the end of the summer’s group residencies. The groups resident during August are the multidisciplinary Inner Spaces and, combing art and science, Quantum Puppetry.

Inner Spaces is a collaborative project created at the Saari Well and involving the work of composer Maija Hynninen and choreographer and dancer Julie Nathanielz. Bringing together dance, new music and visual art, the stage work Electric cues is premiered on 19 August 2015 at a festival in Helsinki organised by LéSpace, and the work will be presented on a further two occasions: 19 and 20 September.

“The idea of our previous collaborative work has been the way in which personal expressive language emerges via the network of relations created between individual gestures. In the new work, this perspective is broadened to touch on space and physical surroundings. The installation is a new element, and the costumes and lighting are also given a more prominent role. The aim is to create an all-encompassing art work in which different fields come together and intertwine naturally,” says Maija Hynninen.

The start of September will see the arrival of artists and a researcher for the individual residencies, and also the Saari Residence’s new invited artist, Hanneriina Moisseinen.
