Silja Pasila began as the anniversary coordinator

Silja Pasila started work as the 10th anniversary year coordinator at the Saari Residence at the beginning of January.

Silja Pasila’s job is to plan the jubilee year events and to design a publication about the operations of the residence. Pasila graduated from the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy of the University of Jyväskylä, where she studied in the Master’s Degree Programme in Cultural Policy. This is not the first time Pasila has worked at the Saari Residence: she was a trainee in the residence in 2015–2016. During her traineeship, she worked as an assistant to community artist Pia Bartsch and helped prepare the community art triennial held here in spring 2016. In addition, she trained in PR and communications at the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York in 2017.

‘The best things about the Saari Residence are the people and getting to know their thoughts and projects. During the jubilee year, we will highlight Saari alumni and their work. The archives also hold all kinds of fascinating things. The Saari Residence makes a great working environment because it provides such good opportunities to focus and be inspired. I look forward to working at the residence, and I hope that we will be able to convey the Saari spirit to a wider audience, too’, Pasila says.
