Recent scientific studies show that trees communicate with each other and prepare for celestial and natural events, such as eclipses, having foresight and co-ordination that human beings often lack. Viriditas is a hand-drawn animated short film that imagines the end of the world through the lens of a forest. It weaves together the ideas of the medieval mystic Hildegard von Bingen of how the divine is present and expressed through all of nature with the apocalypse as it was depicted in medieval Catholicism and Nordic Mythology to make a powerful visual piece depicting harmony, death, ecological disaster and eventual rebirth.
