Open Music Art Merezhka

Application summary

MEREZHKA is an openwork pattern made in place of the threads pulled out of the fabric. It is inherent in Ukrainian vyshyvanka and for me, as I am Ukrainian, it is a certain sacred symbol. If you draw an analogy with my work, the process of writing music is something deep, connected to who you are and where you come from, your identity and at the same time – open to free creative thought, to new patterns, ideas and improvisation. Every time the music is performed in public by itself or in combination with other art forms, it is a new musical pattern – a new MEREZHKA.

The project Open Music Art Merezhka was implemented in several ways:

- creation of new compositions to be included in a future music album
-cooperation with the Finnish theatre Spindrift
- performances at events in support of Ukraine with their own compositions and in a duet with the singer
- collaboration with other artists (advertising, music for videos, etc.)
- completing the course "Working Life Skills for Musicians" (Helsinki University of the Arts)
- learning the Finnish language
- the opportunity to rent accommodation and live in comfortable conditions for creativity
