Barbaric Female Poets

Application summary

Barbaric Female Poets is a multilingual sci-fi theatre piece exploring how women across time and cultures resist disappearance through love and language. Written in Chinese, Persian, English, German and possibly Finnish, the play interweaves messages between sixty women from mythology, documentation/fiction, and imagined future and questions how AI, totalitarianism, and myth shape female voices. At Saari, the playwright Dora Yuemin Cheng will complete the play and test its performative power through writing, online/local workshops, interdisciplinary collaboration and final table reading— creating a new poetic world where the female language becomes survival.
