Active Academic Training Day

How can you make a difference in society as a researcher? What kind of research-based knowledge do journalists, decision-makers or corporate sustainability specialists need?

The Active Academic training day, organised every year in cooperation with the Nessling Foundation, will take place on 3 May from 9 am to 5 pm at Lauttasaari Manor. This year the training will be held in English. During the training you will network, discuss with stakeholders who use research findings in their work and learn how to communicate your research topic in an effective way.

This year’s speakers include Iiris Koivulehto (Finnish Academy of Science and Letters), a specialist in science communication, Hanna Nikkanen (Long Play), journalist and non-fiction writer, Johanna Kentala-Lehtonen, Secretary General of the Expert Panel for Sustainable Development, and scientist Gayathri Murukesan (Origin by Ocean). There will also be participatory workshops: a pitch workshop, a communication workshop by science and social media trainer Tomas Sjöblom, and an impact workshop based on the Finnish Science Academy’s Researcher’s Handbook guide. Each participant will have time to attend two workshops.

The day includes breakfast, lunch and two coffee breaks. After 17:00, you can stay at Lauttasaari Manor to enjoy a bubbly in great company.

Registration for the Active Academic Training Day is now open! Sign up soon, as places are limited. Places will be filled on a first come, first served basis, but priority will be given to grantees who have not attended a training day in previous years. The training is free of charge for Nessling Foundation and Kone Foundation grantees.

We will send a more detailed programme to those who have registered closer to the event.
