The two-day workshop, arranged in co-operation by the University of Helsinki, Aalto University, the University of the Arts, and Kone Foundation, aims to bring together postdoc, midcareer, and senior researchers from Finnish universities to explore possibilities of collaboration in the fields of art, art research, and artistic research, as well as in urban and environmental aesthetics.

Time and place: Thursday 8 August, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m and Friday 9 August, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Lauttasaari Manor (Otavantie 10, Helsinki, obstacle-free entrance via Kauppaneuvoksentie)

The workshop will consist of three keynote lectures, separate workshop sessions, where the points of contact between the participants will be more closely worked on, and general discussion. The participating researchers will get an updated view of the research done at the organizing universities and the collective work during the two days of the meeting provides a foundation for future collaboration, for example in the form of research networks, joint seminars, research papers, projects, grant applications, and other possible forms of collaboration, where the interests of the participating researchers meet.

The more specific themes of the workshop will be specified on the basis of the research areas and expertise of the participating researchers.

The first (Thursday, 8 August) day runs from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., followed by a dinner at the Lauttasaari Manor and the second (Friday, 9 August) from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. A more detailed programme of the workshop will be sent out to the confirmed participants closer to the event.

The workshop is open to researchers with a doctoral degree and it is free for all participants, including refreshments, meals, and the dinner. The languages of the workshop are English and Finnish.

Researchers interested in taking part in the workshop should express their interest by filling out this form by 20 July.

Please prepare to give some background information of yourself, as well as specify your interests in taking part in the event (in either Finnish or English). The confirmation of registration will be sent out by the end of July.

We very much hope to see you in Lauttasaari Manor in August!
