2018

8/6

We are happy and excited to invite you to take a peek inside the Kone Foundation’s new home, the newly-refurbished Lauttasaari Manor! The day is full of exciting activities: performances by the Naapurihmasto group of artists, the mask workshop for children, music by Lau Nau and Kalle Salonen, and guided tours of the manor and the art in its garden.

Our Peek inside the Manor event is all about celebrating the summer and the completion of the renovation, which began in 2016. The Kone Foundation’s move into the manor signifies a new phase in the history of this building, built in 1837, and the oldest building in Lauttasaari, the Red Villa (Punainen huvila), dating back to 1791–93. The renovation of both the manor and the villa has been carried out respecting the original spirit of the buildings, while paying attention to their new purpose. The manor’s old garden will be restored to its former glory and adorned with a wealth of modern art – the largest being a group of works by artists Janne Nabb and Maria Teeri, called Lahopuutarha.

PROGRAMME

  • Café Puhuri in the Red Villa is open throughout the event. On view at the café is Kalle Hamm’s and Dzamil Kamanger’s exhibition The Immigrant Garden.
  • Artist Heini Aho’s installation is exhibited on the ground floor of the manor
  • Architect Minna Lukander, Architect Mari Mannevaara, Landscape Architect Pia Kuusiniemi, Conservator Tiina Sonninen, Construction Manager Ari-Pekka Lanu and Project Engineer Eetu Järvinen share information about the manor’s renovation and interior and garden design – you’ll recognise them by their yellow high-visibility vests
  • The office of the Lauttasaari Neighbourhood Association (Lauttasaari-Seura) on the first floor of the villa is open 3–7 pm.
