The application period for travel grants with a personal researcher grant is continuous. The following deadline will be 15 September, 2016.
Travel grants are intended for archive and library visits, short fieldwork trips and other travel involving information gathering, researcher exchange, or participation in conferences or seminars (with a presentation or similar). By offering travel grants the Foundation wishes to encourage the international interaction of researchers. The trip has to take place during the research grant period, and it should not be longer than three months. The number of travel grants that can be awarded to one researcher per year is limited.
Travel grants can be applied for to cover any extra costs of travel, such as tickets, accommodation expenses, conference fees etc. Daily allowances are not awarded, because the monthly grant should cover normal living expenses abroad, too.
- Travel plan and budget (max. 3 pages)
- Research proposal (max. 3 pages).
Please note. Kone Foundation has until now been awarding travel grants for researchers with a personal researcher grant from the foundation. Awarding grants separately will finish on 1 November, 2016. Kone Foundation researcher grant holders can still apply for travel grants in calls which will close on 15 September and 1 November, if their personal grant is continuing in the period when the trip is planned to take place. There will be no travel grant funding rounds next year.
From this year on, travel funding must be included in the annual grant applications. Please apply for funding for traveling during future grant periods in the September 2016 funding round.
