At the Summer Well 2014 at the Saari Residence about a dozen or so artists, researchers and other experts met to share their ideas about art and activism. Discussions were led by Meiju Niskala and Saara Hannula in sessions that were open to all and sessions that were held in three small groups. The groups’ manifestos were then presented in the evening at the Barbecue Lover’s Carousel Pavilion. One of the groups ended up being opposed to the idea that artists do not react to art policy questions such as the Ministry of Education and Culture’s cuts to art appropriations. The second group wanted to say no to the way things currently are, while the third group ended up highlighting the importance of hearing and listening.
